Dear WCR members,
I am honored and excited to serve as the 2008 President of the Southern Alameda
County Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS®. As the 12th largest
U.S. Women's professional organization, California is the largest state chapter.
On the local level, our chapter had a slight decrease in membership like
everything else related to our industry. Tom Peter’s states that the “only
constant is change”. How well we know that as we all tweak our businesses
to be successful in the current market. Our board is committed to adding
more value to our members to help you get through these changes. We have
a dynamic 2008 Governing Board who are full of energy and enthusiasm; who
are working hard to provide our members with programs relevant to today’s
market, networking events and our annual fundraisers that offer volunteer,
sponsorship and business building opportunities. This year we will be moving
our Golf Tournament to Poppy Ridge, they have a gorgeous facility and we
will be able to move the banquet following the event indoors. And how many
golf shops have you been to that give equal floor space to Women’s
and Girl’s golf apparel? Their support of Women’s Organizations
and women in business is phenomenal. And what about the fashion show…can’t
wait to find out what Jen and team have planned for this year’s theme…last
years show was outstanding!!! Lots to look forward to this year, you can
find out what is going on in our newsletters and our website.
One benefit we all should be taking advantage of is the education reimbursement
program. Information and eligibility can be found in our standing rules which
will hopefully be posted on the web this year, until then ask any of your officers
for more information contact our Programs and education Chair Colleen McKean.
Our chapter’s membership is made up of some of the best of the best and
what better way to really get to know everyone but to get involved. We would
like to encourage everyone to get involved within our chapter, whether by greeting
guests at our meetings, taking pictures or working on a special committee. There
are numerous opportunities for everyone to build lasting relationships both personally
and professionally. To find out more about volunteering, please contact Karla
Brown our “Task is to Ask” Chair.
Are you a REALTOR® or Affiliate who is ready to plug into the power of the
profession, to tap into training, news and information that will keep you on
top of a profession that is changing everyday? If you are ready or know of someone
else who would like to join the top individuals in the profession and learn about
opportunities that can take your business higher than ever before, then the Women's
Council of REALTORS® is the place you need to be! Our 2008 Leadership Team
is full of talented professionals who are dedicated to the success of our chapter
and the success of our members. Please contact myself or anyone on the Leadership
Team and let us know how we can help further your involvement and reach your
goals through Women’s Council.
Wishing you a successful 2008.
Sincerely,
Karen Kohne, President
